Best Practices for Application
Ensure the wood surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease before application.
For existing wood with previous oil-based treatments, lightly sand the surface to ensure the water-based coating bonds effectively.
Allow sufficient drying time between coats according to your local humidity and temperature conditions.
Maintain ambient temperature >10°C and relative humidity <85% during application.
Avoid rain or heavy dew within 24 hours of final coat.
Full chemical cure takes 7 days - avoid heavy abrasion or water immersion during this period.
Clean tools immediately with warm, soapy water before the coating dries.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply it over existing paint or varnish?
We recommend this for preliminary preventive treatments such as insect and ant repellent and anti-corrosion protection for new wooden houses. However, if the existing finish is water-based and well-bonded, you can lightly sand and apply EcoShield as a topcoat - but termite repellency may be reduced if the barrier is not in direct contact with the wood.
Will this coating change the color of my wood in the sun?
No. Our formula is engineered with outstanding UV resistance and anti-yellowing technology, ensuring your wood maintains its intended appearance even under harsh outdoor sunlight.
Is it safe to use indoors around my family and pets?
Yes. The paint is non-toxic, odorless, and ultra-low VOC that meets strict EU and Chinese environmental standards.
Is one coat enough?
One coat provides some protection, but for full termite repellency and long-term durability, we strongly advise two or three coats to build an uninterrupted barrier.
Can it be used on outdoor decks and fences?
Absolutely. EcoShield is formulated for exterior wood, including decks, pergolas, cladding, and garden furniture. For horizontal surfaces (like decks), apply an extra coat to compensate for foot traffic and rain exposure.
What is the shelf life?
12 months from production date when stored in original, unopened container between 5°C and 35°C.
