1. Brief Introduction
The Kaplan turbine is a type of turbine with variable type fan blades.It was developed in 1913 by Viktor Kaplan, an Austrian professor who combined self-aligning propeller blades with self-aligning guide blades to achieve high yields at large drop flows and large head height differences.
The Kaplan turbine is the earliest evolution of Francis turbine.His invention can be used to generate electricity efficiently at very low head heights, which are impossible for a French turbine.Its designed head height ranges from 10 to 70 meters and its output can range from 5 to 200 megawatts.The driving wheel diameter is between 2 and 11 meters.The rotation speed ranges from 79 to 429 RPM.The cabulan turbine is matched with a generator, and its theoretical head height of the most high-yield electric efficiency is 34.65 meters. It is a cabulan turbine with 10 channels with a diameter of 4.8 meters in tacoma power plant in venezuela in 2013, and its generating capacity is 235MW.
Cabland turbine has been widely used in high - flow, low - head hydraulic power plants.
