Ceramic Sheet - Direct Adhesive Wear-Resistant Ceramic Sheet
Product Description
Ceramic sheets, alumina ceramic sleeves, and welding ceramics are used for wear protection in cement, steel, thermal power, mining, chemical, and lithium battery applications. Although all three are made from wear-resistant alumina, they are not interchangeable.
The correct choice depends on the equipment shape, wear mechanism, operating temperature, vibration, impact direction, and installation conditions. Selecting the hardest or thickest ceramic without considering these factors can still result in cracking, detachment, exposed joints, or premature local wear.

|
Installation |
Relatively fast, but surface preparation is critical |
Requires accurate ring fit, bore control, and joint alignment |
Requires welding access and more installation work |
|
Temperature and Vibration |
Limited by the selected adhesive and operating conditions |
Depends on the complete bonding and pipe structure |
More suitable where mechanical anchoring is required |
|
Main Limitation |
Bonding failure may occur if preparation or adhesive selection is unsuitable |
Restricted by pipe diameter, roundness, and sleeve dimensions |
Welding improves retention but does not make ordinary alumina impact-proof |
No single structure is automatically better in every category. Different positions within the same cement plant, steel mill, mine, or power plant may require different ceramic shapes and fixing methods.
Welding Does Not Make Ordinary Alumina Impact-Proof
Weldable ceramic tiles are fixed to the steel surface through a ceramic hole using a welding cup and steel stud, normally together with an adhesive layer.
This mechanical anchoring reduces the risk of ceramic detachment under vibration, thermal cycling, or more demanding operating conditions. However, welding improves the fixing reliability; it does not change the inherent toughness of ordinary alumina ceramic.
Where large, sharp lumps strike the lining directly, the ceramic can still crack even if it remains firmly attached. Severe impact zones may require smaller ceramic sections, ZTA ceramics, rubber ceramic composite liners, or a change in the impact angle rather than simply increasing ceramic thickness.

What Should Be Checked Before Selecting the Structure?
1. Sliding abrasion or direct impact?
Fine powder moving along a surface mainly causes sliding abrasion. Coarse particles falling from height produce a different load. Bonded alumina tiles can perform well under continuous abrasion, while direct impact requires separate evaluation.
2. What is the equipment geometry?
Integral ceramic sleeves suit circular straight sections, but they are restricted by pipe diameter, roundness, and manufacturing dimensions. Ceramic sheets and individual tiles offer more flexibility for cones, elbows, irregular surfaces, and large equipment.
3. What are the temperature and vibration conditions?
The firing temperature of alumina ceramic is not the working temperature of the installed lining. The operating limit of the complete system depends on the adhesive, welding components, steel structure, joints, thermal cycling, and installation method.
4. Where will wear begin first?
Ceramic joints, pipe ends, inlets, changes in bore, and surfaces facing the material flow often fail before the main ceramic surface wears through. Tile layout and joint direction should therefore follow the actual material flow.
General Alumina Ceramic Properties
| Items | Specifications | |
| Content of alumina | ≥92% | ≥95% |
| Density | ≥3.6 g/cm3 | >3.8g/cm3 |
| Rockwell A hardness | ≥82HRA | ≥85HRA |
| Impact strength | ≥1200 MPA | ≥1500 MPA |
| Fracture toughness | ≥3.8MPa·m1/2 | ≥4.0MPa·m1/2 |
| Vickers hardness | ≥1150HV10 | ≥1200HV10 |
| Bending Strength | ≥290MPa | ≥330MPa |
These values describe the ceramic material itself. The reliability of the finished lining also depends on ceramic shape, thickness, joint design, fixing method, substrate condition, and installation quality.
Typical Wear-Protection Applications
These alumina ceramic lining structures can be considered for:
Chemical exposure, strict contamination-control requirements, severe direct impact, and frequent thermal cycling should be evaluated separately before the lining structure is finalized.
Information for Technical Evaluation
Send us the equipment or pipe drawing, conveyed material, particle size, velocity, operating temperature, impact conditions, existing wear position, required ceramic thickness, and installation environment.
Elacera will review whether bonded ceramic sheets, alumina ceramic sleeves, weldable ceramic tiles, or a combined wear-protection structure is more appropriate for the application.
