Product Description:

The Molas NL series represents an advanced nacelle wind lidar system independently developed by our company, specifically engineered for intelligent wind power applications. This innovative device is a laser-based remote sensing solution that is installed on top of the wind turbine nacelle. Utilizing a coherent detection architecture based on the principle of laser Doppler frequency shift, it emits laser pulses and analyzes the backscattered signals from atmospheric aerosols. This process enables highly accurate vector wind field measurements at various distances ahead of the rotor plane, ranging from 50 m to 200 m for the NL200 model, 400 m for NL400, 500 m for NL500, and from 70 m to 750 m for the NL750.

The system is capable of supporting up to 10 simultaneous measurement layers with a data refresh rate of 4 Hz. It offers impressive wind speed accuracy of 0.1 m/s and wind direction accuracy within ±0.5°, allowing for precise tracking of dynamic wind changes. Four beam configurations are provided: all models have a horizontal angle of 30°, while the vertical angle varies—25° or 10° for the NL200 and 10° for the NL400, NL500, and NL750 models. This ensures optimal spatial coverage tailored to different turbine designs and site conditions.

Integration with the wind turbine’s main control system is seamless, facilitated by multiple industrial communication protocols such as Profibus DP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, and CANOPEN. This extensive connectivity supports sophisticated feed-forward control strategies that utilize real-time wind preview data. Consequently, turbines can proactively adjust pitch and yaw before the wind impacts the rotor, significantly reducing both extreme and fatigue loads. Additionally, these adjustments contribute to increased annual energy production (AEP). Beyond feed-forward control, the Molas NL series plays a vital role in yaw misalignment correction, power curve validation (serving as a replacement for traditional met masts), wake detection and analysis, as well as intelligent cooperative control across wind farm fleets.

Designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, the system boasts an IP67-rated optical head and an IP65-rated data processing unit. Its anti-corrosion protection meets ISO C5 standards, making it suitable for offshore, onshore, and high humidity or salt-spray environments. The operating temperature range spans from -40 °C to +60 °C, with survival temperatures between -40 °C and +65 °C during power outages and -45 °C to +65 °C under normal powered operation. It endures survival wind speeds up to 75 m/s and can function at altitudes as high as 3,500 m. The optical head weighs no more than 17.5 kg, and the data unit is under 3.6 kg, allowing for straightforward installation and reduced crane expenses.

Offering a robust design, exceptional measurement accuracy, and versatile communication options, the Molas NL series transcends a mere wind measurement device. It serves as a fundamental element in smart wind farm operations, empowering operators to achieve enhanced efficiency, lower maintenance costs, and a sustainable competitive advantage in the renewable energy industry.

Applications:

Blade Load Analysis

Blade load analysis focuses on evaluating the forces acting on wind turbine blades during operation. This analysis is crucial to ensure structural integrity, optimize blade design, and improve overall turbine performance under various wind conditions.

Power Curve Test

The power curve test is conducted to determine the relationship between wind speed and the power output of a wind turbine. This test helps in assessing turbine efficiency and performance, enabling operators to maximize energy production.

Wake Analysis

Wake analysis examines the effects of airflow disturbances caused by upstream turbines on downstream units. Understanding wake effects is essential for optimizing turbine placement within a wind farm to minimize energy losses and mechanical stress.

Yaw Correction

Yaw correction involves adjusting the orientation of a wind turbine rotor to face the wind direction accurately. Proper yaw alignment enhances energy capture and reduces wear on turbine components, thereby extending the turbine’s operational life.

Intelligent Farm Group Control

Intelligent farm group control refers to the coordinated management of multiple wind turbines within a wind farm. Utilizing advanced algorithms and real-time data, this approach optimizes energy production, enhances reliability, and minimizes maintenance costs across the entire farm.
