The Molas NL series represents an advanced nacelle wind lidar system independently developed by our company, specifically crafted for intelligent wind power applications. This innovative laser-based remote sensing device is installed atop the wind turbine nacelle and utilizes a coherent detection design grounded in the laser Doppler frequency shift principle. By emitting laser pulses and measuring the backscattered signals from atmospheric aerosols, the Molas NL delivers precise vector wind field data at distances ranging from 50 m to 200 m (NL200), 400 m (NL400), 500 m (NL500), and 70 m to 750 m (NL750) ahead of the rotor plane.
Equipped to support up to ten simultaneous measurement layers, the system refreshes data at 4 Hz. It boasts a wind speed accuracy of 0.1 m/s and a wind direction accuracy within ±0.5°, allowing for the detailed tracking of dynamic wind fluctuations. There are four beam configurations offered: all models share a horizontal angle of 30°, while the vertical angle varies—25° or 10° for the NL200, and 10° for the NL400, NL500, and NL750 models—ensuring optimal spatial coverage tailored to diverse turbine and site requirements.
Integration with the turbine’s main control system is streamlined through numerous industrial communication protocols such as Profibus DP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, and CANOPEN. This connectivity facilitates sophisticated feed-forward control strategies by providing real-time wind preview data. Consequently, turbines can proactively adjust pitch and yaw settings before wind arrives at the rotor, leading to significant reductions in both extreme and fatigue loads while enhancing annual energy production (AEP). Beyond feed-forward control capabilities, the Molas NL series also excels in yaw misalignment correction, power curve validation (eliminating the need for conventional met masts), wake detection and analysis, and intelligent cooperative control across entire fleets.
Designed with durability in mind, the system features an IP67-rated optical head and an IP65-rated data processing unit. Its anti-corrosion protection meets ISO C5 standards, making it ideal for offshore, onshore, and environments exposed to high humidity or salt spray. The operational temperature range spans from ‑40 °C to +60 °C, with survival capabilities from ‑40 °C to +65 °C during power outages and ‑45 °C to +65 °C under powered conditions. It can endure survival wind speeds up to 75 m/s and operate at altitudes up to 3,500 m. With an optical head weight of no more than 17.5 kg and a data unit weighing up to 3.6 kg, installation is simplified and crane usage costs are minimized.
Combining robust engineering, exceptional measurement precision, and flexible connectivity options, the Molas NL series is far more than just a wind measurement instrument. It serves as a fundamental component for intelligent wind farm operations, empowering operators to boost efficiency, reduce maintenance expenses, and secure a sustainable competitive advantage within the renewable energy sector.
This device offers true front wind measurement, ensuring precise and reliable data collection directly from the source. It supports real-time data transmission while also providing local storage options, enhancing both accessibility and data security.
With an impressive accuracy of up to 0.1 meters per second and 0.5 degrees, it delivers highly detailed measurements. The system operates at a high sampling rate, allowing for rapid updates and efficient monitoring across multiple distance layers within a large measurement range.
Utilizing a four-beam three-dimensional measurement approach, this instrument captures comprehensive spatial information. Its intelligent configuration simplifies setup and operation, making the device easy to maintain.
Designed with versatility in mind, it boasts high applicability across various environments and demonstrates excellent compatibility with different systems and devices, ensuring seamless integration.

Blade load analysis involves examining the forces and stresses acting on the blades of a wind turbine. This process is crucial for ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of the blades under various operating conditions.
The power curve test is conducted to evaluate the performance of a wind turbine by measuring the output power at different wind speeds. This test helps in determining the efficiency and operational capability of the turbine.
Wake analysis studies the airflow disturbances caused by one wind turbine and their effects on downstream turbines. Understanding wake interactions is essential for optimizing turbine placement and overall farm performance.
Yaw correction refers to the adjustments made to the turbine's orientation to align it properly with the wind direction. Accurate yaw control maximizes energy capture and reduces mechanical stress on the turbine components.
Intelligent farm group control involves the coordinated management of multiple turbines within a wind farm. This approach uses advanced algorithms and real-time data to optimize power output and enhance the efficiency of the entire wind farm.
