The fundamental concept behind a permanent magnet generator is that its rotor is equipped with permanent magnet materials, which create a stable and continuous magnetic field. This magnetic field remains constant as the rotor spins.
When a prime mover—such as a wind turbine, water turbine, or engine—drives the rotor to rotate, the magnetic field produced by the rotor moves relative to the stator windings. This movement causes the magnetic field to intersect with the conductors housed within the stator.
Based on the law of electromagnetic induction, the changing magnetic flux through the stator windings induces an electromotive force (EMF) within them. Consequently, if an external electrical circuit is connected to the stator, this induced EMF allows electrical energy to be delivered to the load.
