The GREEF NEW ENERGY GDG series features a disc-type permanent magnet generator that operates without an iron core. This innovative design consists of a spindle and rotor arranged in a disc shape, where the stator is fixed at the center, and the rotor rotates on both sides. Notably, the spindle contains only windings and lacks an iron core, enhancing performance and reducing weight.
Both the stator and rotor are constructed as flat disc structures that utilize axial air gap magnetic flux. They are alternately positioned along the axial direction, which contributes to the generator's compact and efficient design. Due to its short axial length and large diameter, the disc generator easily supports a multi-pole configuration, resulting in a high power-to-mass ratio.
The GDG series boasts several advantages including a low speed rating, the ability to start at low wind speeds, small size, reduced energy consumption, light weight, a compact structure, and high efficiency. These characteristics make it an ideal choice for direct-drive vertical axis wind turbines.
