Description

The EPCS16SI8N is a 16-megabit (Mb) serial configuration memory device developed by Intel (Altera), packaged in a compact SOIC-8 form factor. It is specifically designed to store and configure firmware data for FPGAs such as the Cyclone® IV and Cyclone® III series, ensuring reliable and fast loading of operational programs upon power-up.

The device communicates with the host controller via an efficient 4-wire SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) bus, supporting clock frequencies of up to 100 MHz for high-speed data transfer. It operates within a single voltage supply range of 3.0V to 3.6V and features low power consumption, making it highly suitable for portable and battery-powered embedded applications.

The EPCS16SI8N offers exceptional reliability and data security, including a data retention period of up to 20 years and robust write-protection mechanisms.
