Working Principle
The reciprocating motion of the drilling pump pistons pressurizes the drilling fluid. The high-pressure drilling fluid is discharged from the fluid end of the drilling pump and first enters the branch lines of the high-pressure manifold; the fluid from multiple pumps is merged into the main line through tees. The air chamber on the manifold buffers the periodic pressure pulsation generated by the drilling pump, making the output pressure stable. The high-pressure drilling fluid then flows along the high-pressure elbows and straight pipes, through the kelly hose, to the swivel, into the interior of the drill string, and down to the bottom hole. The returning drilling fluid from downhole flows back through the annulus to the surface solid control system.
When the downhole becomes plugged and the pump pressure rises abnormally above the preset safety pressure, the safety valve installed on the manifold automatically opens to release the high-pressure drilling fluid, reducing the system pressure and protecting the entire equipment. Through the pressure sensor on the manifold, the driller's console reads the pressure in the line in real time, keeping abreast of downhole conditions at all times.
