On-Site Use, Maintenance, and Inspection Requirements
The high-pressure manifold is a key inspection target for the drilling crew, subject to a pre-shift, during-shift, and periodic NDT inspection system:
1. Daily Inspection: Every shift, check all unions, flanges, and weld positions on the manifold for mud washouts or seepage; check whether the manifold supports and damping pads are loose or cracked; observe the pressure gauge to see whether the pressure fluctuation amplitude is abnormal; and check the integrity of the safety valve and air chamber.
2. Periodic Testing: According to the specified cycle, stop the equipment and conduct ultrasonic thickness measurement on the pipe walls, checking the wall thickness at erosion-prone areas such as elbows and tees to determine the degree of wear; periodically perform non-destructive testing on welds to identify fatigue cracks; and periodically calibrate the safety valve to ensure reliable pressure relief under overpressure.
3. Operating Rules: It is strictly forbidden to run above the rated pressure. When starting the pump, the pressure must be raised slowly — instant surge pressurization is prohibited to reduce impact loads. If a washout or severe wall thinning is found, the equipment must be stopped and depressurized before repair; tightening or handling under pressure is strictly prohibited.
4. Maintenance: Every time a union is disassembled and inspected, clean the metal sealing faces and check them for scratches and dents; replace damaged sealing elements promptly. For long-term shutdown, flush residual drilling fluid from the interior of the line and apply anti-rust protection.
