Materials, Manufacturing Process, and Factory Pressure Testing
The high-pressure manifold is a pressure-bearing special equipment component (Category I pressure vessel component); its manufacturing and inspection follow the API standards of the petroleum industry.
1. Materials: The main body fittings are made of high-strength chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, featuring high tensile strength, impact resistance, and fatigue resistance. The inner wall of the fittings can be hard-faced with tungsten carbide or coated with a wear-resistant coating to improve erosion resistance. The sealing elements adopt a combination of oil-resistant, mud-resistant, wear-resistant special rubber plus metal hard sealing.
2. Manufacturing Process: Forged fittings use the integral forging process to avoid internal defects such as porosity and sand holes found in castings. The fittings undergo heat treatment (quenching and tempering) to eliminate internal stress. The inner bores are precision-finished to ensure smooth inner walls and reduce vortex erosion. All welds undergo non-destructive testing (NDT) — ultrasonic testing (UT) and magnetic particle testing (MT).
3. Factory Pressure Test: Before leaving the factory, every high-pressure manifold must undergo a hydrostatic strength test, with the test pressure generally being 1.5 times the rated working pressure, held for a period of time to verify no leakage and no plastic deformation; only qualified manifolds may be shipped. The matched unions and valves are also individually pressure-tested.
