MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is widely used in furniture, cabinets, shelves, wall paneling, and interior decorations. Its smooth surface makes it ideal for painting, veneering, or laminating.
MDF has a smoother surface and is easier to cut and shape compared to plywood, making it excellent for decorative work. However, plywood is generally stronger and more moisture-resistant, making it better for structural applications.
Standard MDF is not very moisture resistant and can swell if exposed to water. For kitchens, bathrooms, or humid environments, moisture-resistant MDF (MR MDF) should be used.
4. Is MDF better than particle board?
MDF has a finer surface and better carving performance, suitable for shaped furniture and door panels. Particle board has better internal stability and less deformation, more suitable for cabinet bodies and storage furniture. No absolute good or bad, it depends on the usage.
5. Can MDF board be painted or laminated?
Yes, MDF has a very smooth surface that accepts paint, laminates, and veneers well. Proper priming before painting ensures a high-quality finish.
