Oat β-Glucan – Functional Dietary Fiber for Capsule & Softgel Systems
Oat β-Glucan is a functional soluble dietary fiber polysaccharide extracted from selected oat bran through controlled purification and separation technology. It is specifically designed for use in hard capsule and softgel supplement systems, providing a convenient and stable dosage form for dietary fiber delivery.
In capsule applications, oat β-glucan exhibits favorable powder flowability, bulk density, and filling behavior, allowing efficient integration into automatic capsule filling processes. It can be used as a single active ingredient or blended with other functional powders in nutraceutical formulations.
Unlike conventional excipients or food additives, this product is approved as a new food raw material (Announcement No. 20 of 2014), positioning it as a clean-label functional ingredient rather than a chemical processing aid.
Oat β-Glucan can be directly filled into hard capsule systems using standard encapsulation equipment. It demonstrates stable performance in powder feeding, dosing, and capsule filling operations, making it suitable for industrial-scale supplement manufacturing.
For optimized production, it may be blended with complementary functional ingredients to adjust flow properties and achieve target capsule fill weight consistency.
Recommended intake: ≤ 5 g/day
For cholesterol-related functional positioning: ≥ 3 g/day (EFSA reference level)
