Anodized aluminum plate is processed by placing aluminum plate in corresponding electrolytes (such as sulfuric acid, chromic acid, oxalic acid, etc.) as the anode, where under specific conditions and external current action, electrolysis occurs to create a protective oxide layer.
Anodic Oxidation Process Principle
The process of forming an aluminum oxide film on the surface of aluminum plate through electrolysis, with the aluminum plate serving as the anode in an electrolyte solution. The cathode consists of materials with high chemical stability in the electrolyte solution, such as lead, stainless steel, or aluminum. The principle of anodic oxidation of aluminum is essentially hydrolysis-based. As current passes through, hydrogen gas is released at the cathode. At the anode, the oxygen precipitated includes not only molecular oxygen but also atomic oxygen (O) and ionic oxygen, typically represented as molecular oxygen in reactions. The aluminum anode is oxidized by the precipitated oxygen to form an anhydrous alumina film. Not all generated oxygen interacts with aluminum; some precipitates in gaseous form.
