Product Specification
The metal structure of ASTM A335 is martensite, which has good oxidation resistance at about 650 degrees Celsius, good thermal strength below 600 degrees Celsius, and good shock absorption and thermal conductivity, so it is widely used in steam turbines.
A335 p5 pipe is a ferritic stainless-steel alloy pipe. Chemically the pipe consists of Chromium and Molybdenum as the major or principal alloying elements. The percentage of chromium can range anywhere between 4% to 10% and the percentage of Molybdenum is between 0.44% to 1.13%. Moly chrome pipes have high tensile strength, good hardenability, increase creep strength, impact qualities. elastic limit, increased resistance to wear and pitting. The tensile strength for asme sa335 grade p5 pipe ranges from 60,000 psi to 85,000 psi or 415 MPa to 585 Mpa and its yield strength ranges from 30.000 psi to 60,000 psi or 205 Mpa to 415 Mpa. The elongation for pipes made from sa335 p5 material is about 30%.
Adding Molybdenum increases the resistance of sa335 grade p5 to softening. It also prevents grain growth. Further, Molybdenum increases the resistance to brittleness which could occur in chromium steel. This chrome Molybdenum alloy a335 p5 steel pipes is well suited to applications where fluids like oil, water and gases are to be carried across refineries, factories or plants at very high pressure and temperature. The astm a335 p5 alloy steel pipe is well suited for forming operations like – bending & flanging, as well as for fusion welding.
