The Roots blower is a positive displacement volumetric blower, featuring a robust structure, constant output flow, and strong adaptability. It serves as a critical power device for supplying stable air or vacuum sources in sewage treatment, aquaculture, pneumatic conveying, vacuum packaging, and numerous industrial processes. It can maintain an almost constant volumetric flow even when pressure or vacuum fluctuates, providing a reliable and predictable gas delivery solution.
Working Principle
"Three-lobe" or "two-lobe" rotor design:
Precisely machined rotors mounted on two parallel shafts rotate synchronously in opposite directions with minimal clearance inside the casing.
Gas is trapped in the space between the rotors and the casing through the air inlet, conveyed to the air outlet without internal compression as the rotors turn, and then forced out against the back pressure.
The flow rate is strictly proportional to the rotational speed, and pressure changes have minimal impact on the flow rate.
Advantages
Constant flow characteristic: The flow rate remains highly stable when the system resistance (back pressure) changes, providing a reliable guarantee for processes with strict air volume requirements such as biochemical aeration.
Durable and long service life: The overall cast iron or steel structure, coupled with precision-manufactured core components (rotors, gears, bearings), ensures a typical design life of over 10 years.
Strong adaptability: It can handle dusty and humid air, outperforming centrifugal blowers in some working conditions. It can be used both as a blower and a vacuum pump.
Relatively simple maintenance: Main maintenance tasks include regular replacement of gear oil, air filters, and grease, with no need for complex dynamic balance correction.
Application Scenarios
Water treatment: The core equipment for sewage aeration, supplying oxygen to activated sludge.
Aquaculture: Bottom aeration for fish ponds and shrimp ponds, increasing breeding density and survival rate.
Pneumatic conveying: Transporting powdered and granular materials (e.g., cement, flour, plastic pellets).
Vacuum systems: Used for vacuum packaging, central vacuum feeding, and printing machinery.
Other industries: Incinerator combustion-supporting, electroplating tank agitation, flue gas desulfurization oxidation, and backwashing air supply.
