Festo HGL-1/8-QS-6 one-way flow control valve (meter-in). G1/8 female port, QS-6 push-in for Ø6mm tube, needle adj., free reverse flow, for supply-side speed control on pneumatic cylinders.
Product Overview
The Festo HGL-1/8-QS-6 is a one-way flow control valve (meter-in type) from the HGL series, used to regulate the supply (pressurizing) flow to a double-acting pneumatic cylinder to control advance or retract speed. It features a G1/8" female threaded port for inline installation and a QS-6 push-in connector for 6 mm outside-diameter PU/nylon tubing. The valve allows full free-flow in the reverse direction and adjustable throttling in the metered direction via a knurled knob with lock nut.

Key Features
Meter-In (Supply) Throttle: Installed on the cylinder supply port — regulates how fast air fills the cylinder chamber. Note: for best double-acting cylinder control, meter-out (exhaust throttle — LRLL series) is generally preferred to avoid stick-slip; meter-in is used when exhaust is open or for single-acting cylinders.
Push-In Tube Release: Quick-connect/disconnect for Ø6 mm tubing — simply push tube in; lift collet to remove. No tools for tubing.
Lockable Adjustment: Knurled knob with integrated lock nut secures the flow setting against vibration.
Free-Flow Check: Unrestricted reverse flow ensures no back-pressure builds when air is exhausting from the metered side.
Applications
Single-Acting Cylinder Speed: Controlling extend speed of spring-return cylinders (only one direction needs throttling).
Supply-Side Regulation: Where process dictates meter-in (e.g., soft-start or when exhaust is separately metered).
Air Motor / Tool Feed: Regulating supply air to air motors, vacuum generators, or blow guns.
Retrofit / OEM: Direct screw-in on G1/8 cylinder ports or manifold branches with Ø6 mm supply tubing.
Note: For meter-out (exhaust throttling — recommended for double-acting cylinders), use the LRLL-1/8-QS-6 (same G1/8 + QS-6 but opposite flow direction). For other tube sizes: QS-4 (Ø4 mm), QS-8 (Ø8 mm), QS-10 (Ø10 mm) are also available in the HGL-1/8-QS-x family. Always confirm application requirement — meter-out usually gives smoother motion on double-acting cylinders.
