This product is professionally designed for BYD’s popular Ocean Series model—the BYD Destroyer 05, serving as a core safety friction component in the rear solid disc brake system.

  Installation Instructions

   Important Safety Note:

  
  Rear brake pad replacement involves the EPB electronic parking brake system—a diagnostic tool must be used to release the electronic parking brake (set to service mode) before replacement to avoid damaging the brake caliper.

  Tools Required:

  •  Lift or jack with safety stands

  • Socket wrench / Impact wrench

  • Torque wrench

  • | Brake caliper piston rewind tool (rotary type for EPB)

  • Brake cleaner

  •  Diagnostic tool (for EPB release)

  Installation Steps (General Reference) :

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool: Use diagnostic tool to set rear EPB to "service mode" and release electronic parking brake

  2. Lift Vehicle: Raise the rear using a lift, remove rear wheels

  3. Disconnect Wear Sensor (if equipped): Disconnect brake pad wear sensor electrical harness connection

  4. Remove Brake Caliper: Remove caliper guide pins, remove caliper and secure to body (avoid straining brake lines)

  5. Remove Old Pads: Remove old brake pads and shims from caliper bracket

  6. Push Back Caliper Piston: Use rewind tool to slowly push caliper piston back to original position

  7. Clean Mounting Area: Clean caliper bracket and guide pins, apply high-temp grease—do not use products that could damage rubber parts

  8. Install New Pads: Install new brake pads (with shims, wear indicators) onto caliper bracket—ensure wear sensor on inboard side

  9. Reinstall Caliper: Reinstall caliper, tighten guide pins to specified torque

  10. Reinstall Wheel: Reinstall wheel and tighten, lower vehicle

  11. Exit Service Mode: Use diagnostic tool to exit EPB "service mode", perform "assembly check" procedure

  12. Brake System Bed-in: Depress brake pedal multiple times to seat pistons, confirm pedal firmness

  【Professional Tips】:

  • Must release EPB with diagnostic tool before replacement—do not forcibly push back EPB caliper pistons *

  • Wear indicator must be installed on the inboard side of the rotor

  • Both left and right pads on the same axle must be replaced as a pair for balanced braking force

  • New brake pads require bed-in (approx. 200-500 km)—avoid emergency braking during this period

  • Check brake fluid level after replacement
