The engine mount (commonly known as the "engine cushion") is a core component of the powertrain mounting system. Installed between the engine/drive motor and the subframe, it secures the powertrain to the vehicle body while absorbing and attenuating engine vibration and road impacts. It typically consists of a metal bracket frame and a rubber/hydraulic damping element – the rubber portion provides cushioning and vibration isolation, preventing engine vibration from transmitting to the cabin.
The BYD Destroyer 05 is equipped with the BYD472QA 1.5L Xiaoyun engine (max power 81kW) and a permanent magnet synchronous drive motor (total power 132-145kW), featuring 5th generation DM super hybrid technology.
In daily use, engine mounts are long subjected to powertrain weight and torque loads. The rubber portion is prone to aging/cracking, hydraulic fluid leakage (for hydraulic mounts), and deformation/sagging – leading to increased idle vibration, acceleration shudder, engine sagging, and chassis noise. It is one of the chassis components that requires replacement after a certain mileage.
