Heat-Resistant Pickled Annealed 316 Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe for High Temperature
316 stainless steel seamless pipe (UNS S31600) in pickled and annealed condition is an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy supplied in the softened, scale-free state required for high-temperature and corrosive service. Pickling removes the oxide scale and chromium-depleted layer left by hot working, while annealing relieves internal stresses and restores the uniform austenitic grain structure. The result is a clean, uniform surface with full corrosion resistance restored. The 2–3% molybdenum content provides resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-bearing media, and the seamless construction eliminates the weld seam that would otherwise become the weak point under thermal cycling. This pipe is specified for high-temperature chemical, petrochemical and power generation piping where both heat resistance and corrosion resistance are required.

Pickled annealed 316 seamless pipe is used in heat exchanger tubes, superheater and reheater piping, chemical reactor coils, steam distribution lines, refinery transfer lines and high-temperature process piping in pulp and paper mills. It also serves in marine exhaust systems and desalination plant piping.
Pickling restores full corrosion resistance. Removal of the chromium-depleted surface layer ensures the passive film performs at design level from the first day of service. Annealing relieves forming stresses. Softened structure resists stress corrosion cracking and improves bendability for field fabrication. Molybdenum resists chloride attack at temperature. 316 outperforms 304 in high-temperature chloride and dilute sulfuric acid environments.
The pipe functions as a pressure-retaining conduit and thermal transfer surface, carrying high-temperature fluids while resisting oxidation and corrosion on both internal and external surfaces.
Store horizontally on wooden supports. Cut by abrasive saw or lathe; bevel for welding. Use ER316L filler wire with argon purge for root pass. Post-weld pickling restores passivation on heat-affected zones. Avoid thermal shock during startup and shutdown.
Prevent carbon steel contact to avoid iron contamination. Avoid chloride-rich media above 60°C, which can cause stress corrosion cracking. Do not use hydrochloric acid cleaners. Verify annealed condition before field bending.
Standard sizes ship 15–20 days after deposit. Custom diameters and wall thicknesses add 7–10 days. Ports: Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin.
T/T (30% deposit, balance before shipment) or irrevocable L/C at sight.
Hexagonal bundles with steel strapping, end caps, moisture-proof wrapping, fumigated wooden pallets or crates. Labels show grade, size, heat number and length.
