Acid-Resistant 304 Stainless Steel Plate 2B Finish for Chemical Equipment
304 stainless steel plate (UNS S30400) is the most widely used austenitic chromium-nickel alloy, containing 18–20% chromium and 8–10.5% nickel. Its 2B finish is produced by cold rolling, annealing and pickling, giving a smooth, matte surface that resists scale buildup and simplifies cleaning—critical for chemical processing environments. The material's chromium-rich passive oxide layer regenerates when scratched, providing continuous protection against oxidizing acids and mild reducing media. This plate is supplied to ASTM A240 standards and is suited to chemical storage tanks, reactor shells, heat exchanger baffles and piping supports where resistance to nitric acid, organic acids and alkaline solutions is required at ambient to moderate temperatures.

304 2B plate serves chemical equipment including storage vessels, mixing tanks, distillation column internals, pump bases and fume hood liners. It is also used in pharmaceutical reactors, food-grade processing tanks and water treatment clarifiers where sanitation and moderate acid resistance are required.
Self-renewing passive film extends service life. The chromium oxide layer reforms after mechanical damage, unlike coatings that fail once breached. 2B finish reduces product adhesion. Smooth surface prevents chemical residue buildup, lowering cleaning frequency and cross-contamination risk. Excellent weldability and formability. 304 plates can be rolled, bent and welded on site without preheating, simplifying tank fabrication and repair.
The plate provides containment and structural integrity for corrosive media, acting as both a barrier against chemical attack and a load-bearing shell for pressure and thermal cycling. In heat exchanger applications, it functions as a thermally conductive barrier separating process fluids.
Store indoors on dry wooden pallets. Cut by plasma or waterjet; grind edges to remove heat tint before welding. Use ER308L filler wire. After welding, pickling paste restores the passive layer on heat-affected zones. Do not exceed 400°C in continuous service to avoid sensitization.
Avoid contact with carbon steel during fabrication to prevent iron contamination and galvanic corrosion. Chloride-rich media above 60°C may cause pitting—verify operating conditions before specifying 304. Never use hydrochloric acid for cleaning.
Standard sizes ship 15–20 days after deposit. Custom cut lengths add 5–7 days. Ports: Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin.
T/T (30% deposit, balance before shipment) or irrevocable L/C at sight.
Wooden pallets with moisture-proof paper, PVC film, steel strapping and edge protection. Plate surfaces separated by interleaving paper to prevent scratching.
Quality claims accepted within 7 working days with batch number and third-party test report. Material non-conformity qualifies for replacement or refund. Cutting and welding defects after delivery are not covered. Technical support available for welding procedures and corrosion assessment.
