Corrosion-Resistant 304 Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Plate 2B Finish for Industrial Use
304 cold rolled stainless steel plate (UNS S30400) is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy containing 18–20% chromium and 8–10.5% nickel. The cold rolling process refines grain structure, improves dimensional tolerance and raises surface quality compared with hot rolled plate, while the subsequent annealing and pickling steps restore ductility and produce the 2B finish—a smooth, matte, silver-grey surface with low roughness. The chromium-rich passive oxide film that forms spontaneously on the surface is the basis of its corrosion resistance: when oxygen is present, chromium reacts to form a dense, self-healing barrier that blocks further oxidation. This plate is manufactured to ASTM A240 and is intended for industrial environments where moderate chemical exposure, cleanliness and consistent thickness matter.

This plate is used for industrial cabinets, machine guards, conveyor components, electrical enclosures, food processing tables, water treatment panels and general sheet metal fabrication. Its cold rolled tolerance makes it suitable for laser cutting and precision bending lines.
Tighter thickness tolerance than hot rolled plate. Cold rolling delivers uniform gauge across the sheet, reducing shimming and fit-up problems in fabrication. Self-healing passive layer extends service life. Surface scratches do not become corrosion initiation sites as long as oxygen is available. 2B finish supports painting and bonding. Low, consistent roughness improves coating adhesion and appearance.
The plate functions as a corrosion-resistant structural and enclosure material, providing both mechanical protection for internal components and a cleanable surface for hygiene-sensitive industrial areas.
Store dry and flat on wooden pallets. Laser or plasma cut; deburr edges before welding. Use ER308L filler wire with interpass temperature below 150°C. Restore passivation after welding using pickling paste or nitric acid.
Avoid carbon steel contact to prevent iron contamination and false rust. Do not use hydrochloric acid cleaners. Verify chloride levels and temperature before specifying 304 in chemical service.
Standard sizes ship 10–15 days after deposit; custom cut lengths add 5–7 days. Ports: Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin.
T/T (30% deposit, balance before shipment) or irrevocable L/C at sight.
Moisture-proof paper and PVC film, steel strapping, fumigated wooden pallets with edge protection. Interleaving paper between plates prevents scratching.
Quality claims accepted within 7 working days with batch number and third-party inspection report. Confirmed material or dimensional non-conformity qualifies for replacement or refund. Defects arising after cutting, welding or forming are not covered. Technical support available for fabrication and corrosion assessment.
