Color Coated Steel Coil PPGI Prepainted Galvanized Coil For Corrugated Roof

Color Coated Coil is a pre-painted metal coil produced from hot-dip galvanized steel (GI) or 55% Aluzinc/Galvalume steel (GL) substrate. After degreasing and chemical treatment (chromate-free passivation or phosphating), the coil is continuously roll-coated with organic coatings, baked and cured in an oven, then cooled and recoiled. In the industry it is commonly referred to as PPGI (Prepainted Galvanized Steel Coil) and PPGL (Prepainted Galvalume Steel Coil).

The product combines the strength and formability of the metal substrate with the decorative appearance and corrosion resistance of organic coatings. It is available in a wide range of colors and specifications, and can be directly roll-formed, bent, or stamped — making it a fundamental material for construction, home appliances, transportation, and advertising industries.

The corrosion resistance of color coated coil is achieved by a triple protection system of metallic coating + chemical pretreatment + organic coating. The metallic coating provides sacrificial protection at cut edges and scratches, the organic coating acts as a barrier against moisture, oxygen and corrosive media, and the chemical pretreatment enhances coating adhesion and overall durability.

• For the same coating mass, Aluzinc (GL) substrate offers roughly 2 – 4 times the corrosion resistance of pure zinc coating, with self-sealing effect at cut edges — recommended as the first choice for roofing;
• For coastal, humid, or salt-spray environments, GL substrate combined with HDP/PVDF paint and higher coating mass (≥ AZ150 or ≥ Z275) is recommended;
• For sandwich panel applications, back coating ≥ 7 μm is recommended to ensure bonding strength.

Uncoiling → Shearing & Stitching → Entry Looper → Degreasing & Cleaning → Chemical Roll Coating (passivation / Cr-free treatment) → Primer Coating → Baking & Curing → Top Coat → Baking & Curing → Water Quench / Air Cooling → Exit Looper → Online Inspection → Recoiling

A continuous roll coating line is adopted, with the top side coated in a primer + top coat (two-coat, two-bake) structure. For products requiring higher weatherability and corrosion resistance, a three-coat (3/2) system of primer + top coat + clear varnish can be applied.

• Keep the protective film in place during shearing and stamping; keep dies and rollers clean to avoid coating scratches;
• Prefer bending perpendicular to the rolling direction; observe the minimum bend radius specified for each grade;
• Store in a dry, ventilated indoor warehouse; avoid open-air storage and rain exposure; use separators between coils to prevent friction;
• Use within 6 months from the date of manufacture; do not leave films exposed to strong sunlight for extended periods to avoid adhesive residue.

The entire production process operates under an ISO 9001 quality management system, from incoming inspection (re-verification of substrate and paint), in-process control (online monitoring of film thickness, oven temperature, and color deviation), to final inspection (appearance, performance, and packing). Full batch traceability is maintained, and a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) is issued with every shipment.

The finished product is free of blisters, cracks, bare spots, roller marks, edge waves, visible scratches, and inclusions. Dimensional and shape tolerances comply with GB/T 12754 or the contract standard. Every coil is inspected before export packing and records are archived.

On-site supervision and sampling by SGS, BV, or Intertek are supported. ISO, CE, and RoHS related certification documents can be provided upon request.
