High-Pressure Resistant 316 Stainless Steel Welded Pipe for Power Plant
316 stainless steel welded pipe (UNS S31600) is an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy formed by rolling strip or plate into tubular form and joining the longitudinal seam with automatic welding. The 2–3% molybdenum content raises resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in the chloride-bearing and sulfur-bearing media commonly found in power plant water-steam cycles. Compared with 304, 316 maintains better corrosion performance in high-purity water systems, condensate lines and flue gas desulfurization circuits where trace chlorides and acidic condensates accelerate attack. The welded construction allows large diameters and thin walls to be produced economically, with the weld seam fully penetrable for radiographic or ultrasonic inspection. Pipes are supplied in annealed and pickled condition with a clean, uniform surface suitable for high-pressure service.

316 welded pipe is used in power plant condenser tubing, feedwater heater lines, steam condensate return, flue gas desulfurization spray headers, cooling water piping, boiler make-up water lines and auxiliary steam systems.
Molybdenum resists chloride and sulfur attack. 316 performs reliably in power plant water chemistry where 304 would pit in condensate and FGD circuits. Welded construction lowers cost for large diameters. Thin-wall and large-diameter pipe is produced economically from strip. Inspectable seam ensures pressure integrity. Full-length NDT verifies weld quality for high-pressure service.
The pipe functions as a pressure-containing conduit and corrosion barrier, transporting high-purity water, steam and flue gas slurries while resisting pitting, crevice corrosion and erosion-corrosion in power generation environments.
Store horizontally on wooden supports. Cut by abrasive saw or lathe; bevel ends for welding. Use ER316L filler wire with argon purge. Post-weld pickling restores passivation. Align weld seams away from high-stress zones during installation.
Prevent carbon steel contact to avoid iron contamination. Avoid chloride-rich media above 60°C, which can cause stress corrosion cracking. Do not use hydrochloric acid cleaners. Verify pressure ratings and NDT certificates before installation.
Standard sizes ship 15–20 days after deposit. Custom diameters and wall thicknesses add 7–10 days. Ports: Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin.
T/T (30% deposit, balance before shipment) or irrevocable L/C at sight.
Hexagonal bundles with steel strapping, end caps, moisture-proof wrapping, fumigated wooden pallets or crates. Labels show grade, size, heat number and length.
Quality claims accepted within 7 working days with batch number and third-party inspection report. Confirmed material or dimensional non-conformity qualifies for replacement or refund.
