Corrosion-Resistant ASTM A312 TP304 Stainless Steel Welded Pipe for Chemical Industry
ASTM A312 TP304 stainless steel welded pipe (UNS S30400) is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy formed by rolling plate or strip into a tubular shape and joining the longitudinal seam by automatic welding. The 18–20% chromium and 8–10.5% nickel content produces a stable austenitic structure with a self-renewing chromium oxide passive layer that resists oxidizing acids and mildly corrosive chemical media. Welded pipe offers a cost advantage over seamless construction because thinner wall thicknesses can be produced with tighter dimensional consistency and a smoother internal surface. The weld seam is fully penetrated and radiographically inspectable, and post-weld solution annealing or pickling restores corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone. This pipe is specified for chemical processing lines where moderate pressure and good corrosion resistance are required at lower cost than seamless alternatives.

TP304 welded pipe is used in chemical transfer lines, cooling water systems, ventilation ducting, food and beverage process piping, pharmaceutical clean lines, water treatment plant piping and low-pressure steam distribution.
Lower cost than seamless pipe. Welded construction uses thinner strip and fewer processing steps, reducing unit price for large-diameter or thin-wall applications. Tighter wall tolerance and smoother bore. Strip feedstock allows consistent wall thickness and better internal surface finish than pierced seamless pipe. Inspectable weld seam. Full-length radiographic or ultrasonic testing verifies weld integrity before shipment.
The pipe functions as a corrosion-resistant conduit for fluid transfer, handling chemical solutions, process water and gases at moderate pressures and temperatures while maintaining a cleanable internal surface.
Store horizontally on wooden supports. Cut with abrasive saw or lathe; bevel ends for welding. Use ER308L filler wire with argon purge. Post-weld pickling restores passivation. Verify weld seam orientation during installation to avoid stress concentration at bends.
Prevent carbon steel contact to avoid iron contamination. Avoid chloride-rich media above 60°C, which can cause stress corrosion cracking. Do not use hydrochloric acid cleaners. Confirm weld quality certificates before pressure service.
Standard sizes ship 10–15 days after deposit. Custom diameters and wall thicknesses add 5–7 days. Ports: Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin.
T/T (30% deposit, balance before shipment) or irrevocable L/C at sight.
Hexagonal bundles with steel strapping, end caps, moisture-proof wrapping, fumigated wooden pallets or crates. Labels show grade, size, heat number and length.
