High Gloss 6mm PCD Boring Bit, Anti‑Stick Lathe Internal Boring Tool for 6063 Aluminum, Copper and Brass Alloys
A 6 mm boring bar lives in confined spaces — wristwatch-sized aluminum housings, smartphone chassis bores, graphite mold cavities, thin-wall copper fittings. In these tight geometries, tool chatter, chip packing, and edge degradation aren't inconveniences — they're scrap tickets.
The Palton 6 mm PCD micro boring bar is purpose-built for this territory. A one-piece tungsten carbide shank provides the stiffness. A vacuum-brazed polycrystalline diamond tip provides the cutting endurance. Together, they turn tiny-hole finishing from a process headache into a predictable operation.
Why 6 mm Diameter Matters
At this scale, every micron of tool deflection
writes itself into the bore wall. A conventional steel boring bar at 6 mm diameter flexes under load, especially at deeper reaches. Carbide reduces that flex dramatically. The solid carbide shank on this tool damps vibration at its source — the tool-workpiece interface — rather than transmitting it into the machined surface.
What the operator sees: round bores, straight walls, no waviness in the surface finish, diameter tolerance holding steady from part one to part one thousand.
The Diamond Edge — Aluminum's Antidote
Anyone who has bored aluminum on a production lathe knows the problem: built-up edge. Soft, ductile aluminum welds itself to the cutting tool under heat and pressure, forming a false cutting edge that changes bore diameter unpredictably and tears the surface finish.
PCD solves this at the material level. Its near-zero affinity with aluminum means the chip doesn't stick. Its low friction coefficient means less heat generation to begin with. And its 8,000 HV hardness means the edge stays sharp through high-silicon grades (A390 and similar) that would crater a carbide boring bar within a shift.

What
the Shop Gains
No built-up edge on aluminum. The diamond cutting face has no chemical affinity for non-ferrous metals. Chips flow, they don't stick.
Regrindable. PCD tip survives multiple regrinding cycles — lowering the true cost per cutting edge over the tool's full service window.
Heat out, not in. Diamond's thermal conductivity pulls heat into the chip stream. No edge burning, even in dry or MQL setups at high spindle speeds.
Consistent batch performance. Production tolerances controlled to ±0.005 mm across a full batch order, so every tool in the drawer cuts the same bore diameter as the last.
