Characteristics & Applications
The reagent displays strong collecting power for lead, copper, and silver sulfide minerals, and it is also effective on activated zinc sulfide ores. Its molecules adsorb onto mineral surfaces through hydrophobic groups, significantly enhancing mineral hydrophobicity and promoting the attachment of target minerals to air bubbles, thereby increasing the recovery of valuable components.
Its behavior varies significantly with pH: in alkaline conditions, it exhibits weak collecting power toward pyrite, favoring the preferential flotation and separation of lead and zinc minerals. In neutral to acidic media, it acts as a powerful non-selective collector for most sulfide minerals.
The inherent frothing properties of Dithiophosphate 25 reduce the need for additional frothing agents. In specific flotation circuits, it aids in forming a foam layer of suitable size and stability, thereby improving separation efficiency. Under certain process conditions, it also shows auxiliary collecting effects for some heavy metal oxide ores.
