Powder Coating Process Flow
1. Surface Preparation
Aluminum profiles undergo thorough surface preparation to remove oil, dust, and contaminants. Proper cleaning is essential to ensure strong powder adhesion and consistent finish performance.
2. Pre-Treatment
The profiles are chemically treated to improve corrosion resistance and coating adhesion. Common pretreatment methods include:
Chemical cleaning
Phosphating
Chromate or chrome-free conversion coating
This step enhances surface activation and long-term coating durability.
3. Drying
After pretreatment, the profiles pass through a drying oven to eliminate residual moisture. A completely dry surface is critical for optimal electrostatic powder application.
4. Electrostatic Powder Application
Powder coating material is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto grounded aluminum profiles. The charged particles are uniformly attracted to the surface, forming an even powder layer. Automatic spray guns ensure consistency, while manual touch-up ensures complete coverage on complex areas.
5. Powder Curing
The coated profiles enter a curing oven, where controlled heating melts and flows the powder particles into a smooth and continuous film. The curing process chemically cross-links the coating, forming a durable, impact-resistant, and corrosion-resistant finish.
6. Cooling
After curing, the profiles undergo controlled cooling to stabilize the coating film and preserve surface appearance.
7. Quality Inspection
Each finished profile is inspected for:
Coating thickness
Surface appearance
Adhesion performance
Overall coating integrity
Only products meeting quality standards proceed to packaging or further processing.
