TCGT-AK is a 60° positive triangular indexable carbide turning insert with a 7° positive clearance angle and a dedicated AK chipbreaker for finishing operations, engineered for the finishing of non-ferrous metals.
This insert features a sharp cutting edge with a large rake angle and mirror-polished rake face, which reduces cutting resistance and effectively suppresses built-up edge. The AK chipbreaker adopts an optimized curved chip-groove geometry. For long-chipping soft metals such as aluminum, aluminum alloys and copper, it delivers stable and controllable chip breaking as well as smooth chip evacuation under low depth of cut finishing conditions, achieving outstanding surface finish.
Manufactured to precision G tolerance, the insert has three usable cutting edges and is secured by screw clamping. It is compatible with toolholders including STFCR/L. It is suitable for CNC turning operations such as external turning, internal boring and profile turning for finishing and light semi-finishing. It is widely used in high-gloss machining of automated, aerospace and automotive components. The substrate is typically ultra-fine grain uncoated carbide, balancing sharp cutting edge and wear resistance, and maintaining stable performance during high-speed continuous turning.
