The M Series Shell Sand Mixer is a high-efficiency, intelligent mixing machine specifically designed for the hot-process shell sand production. It is widely used in core making for precision castings such as automotive components, engine blocks, hydraulic valves, pump housings, and pipe fittings. Featuring high-speed dual-rotor agitation + oil-bath/electric heating + automated control, it enables rapid, uniform, and controllable mixing of sand, resin, and hardener, ensuring a complete, dense resin coating on sand grains—significantly improving core strength, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish to meet high-quality shell sand production requirements.
Available in models M-300, M-500, M-800, M-1000, the M Series offers batch capacities from 30 kg to 1000 kg. It supports manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic operation modes and can be seamlessly integrated with sand heaters, cooling/crushing systems, and conveyors to form a complete shell sand production line.
Working Principle
The M Series uses a three-stage mixing process: "hot sand + resin + cold hardener", ensuring resin fully coats hot sand and hardener is added precisely after cooling to prevent premature curing:
Heating & Pre-Mixing Pre-dried sand is heated to 120–140°C and fed into the mixer. Dual rotors spin at 150–300 rpm, rapidly tumbling sand for uniform temperature.
Resin Addition & Coating When sand reaches target temperature, the PLC-controlled resin dosing pump sprays liquid phenolic resin evenly into the sand stream. The resin melts and coats the sand grains, forming an initial film.
Cooling & Hardener Addition After resin coating, mixing continues to cool sand to 90–100°C. The PLC triggers the hardener (hexamine solution) dosing system to add hardener precisely, initiating cross-linking.
Final Mixing & Discharge After 1–2 minutes of final mixing, the sand reaches optimal flowability and formability. The pneumatic/hydraulic discharge door opens automatically, releasing shell sand to a cooling conveyor or directly to core-making.

High Automation Full-auto mode controls the entire process: sand feeding → heating → resin addition → cooling → hardener addition → mixing → discharge, minimizing human error and improving consistency.
Robust & Wear-Resistant Mixing chamber and rotor blades made of wear-resistant alloy steel (ZGMn13) or overlay welding, impact- and wear-resistant, long service life. Reliable shaft sealing prevents resin leakage.
User-Friendly, Easy Maintenance 10" HMI touchscreen for intuitive parameter setting and self-diagnosis. Top quick-opening cover for easy cleaning. Centralized lubrication points for simple maintenance.
