The remote S900 I/O system can be installed in non-hazardous areas or directly in Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous areas. Communication with the control system is achieved via the PROFIBUS DP standard, enabling seamless integration at the control level. By installing the I/O system directly in the field, costs associated with marshaling and extensive wiring are significantly reduced.
The system is designed to be sturdy, error-tolerant, and easy to service. Integrated disconnection mechanisms allow for component replacement during operation, eliminating the need to interrupt the primary voltage when exchanging power supply units. This ensures minimal downtime and continuous operation in demanding industrial environments.
The S900 I/O type S is suitable for installation in hazardous area Zone 1 and for connecting intrinsically safe field devices installed in Zone 0, Zone 1, or Zone 2. The DO910S (DO4-Ex) digital output module provides outputs for intrinsically safe valves or alarms, enabling safe and reliable field-level control in hazardous environments.

First up, the Host Platform. Think of the S900 Remote I/O as the Central Nervous System. It's your Gateway. It manages the backplane and bridges the gap to your DCS using PROFIBUS DP. Its primary directive? Handling hazardous area isolation and distributing power.
Now, zooming in on the Node: The DO910S. This is the Muscle. It's a Digital Output module, S-Series. Integration logic is simple:
Synchronization Check: The relationship is strictly Master-Slave. The DO910S is just the execution arm. Without the CI920 for data and the SA910 for power, it stays dark. System dependency is absolute.
