Marine Radar Beacon (RACON) for Buoys and Lighthouses
The DX-RACON Series is a marine radar beacon designed to help vessels identify navigation aids on their radar displays.
When interrogated by a marine radar, the RACON returns a coded response that indicates the bearing and distance of the marked object. This makes it useful where a buoy, lighthouse, offshore structure or coastal mark must remain identifiable at night, in poor visibility or beyond visual range.

The DX-RACON can return letters, numbers and directional response codes that help distinguish one navigation mark from another.

This allows the response code to be selected according to the identity and purpose of the marked aid.
The DX-RACON is designed for low average power consumption and accepts a wide DC input range.
This makes it easier to integrate with the existing power system on a buoy, lighthouse, offshore platform or fixed beacon. Built-in surge protection also helps protect the equipment from unstable marine power conditions.
The IP68 enclosure and wide operating-temperature range support long-term deployment in coastal, offshore and inland-waterway environments.
The omnidirectional antenna provides 360° horizontal coverage, allowing vessels to receive the RACON response from different approach directions.

RACON performance depends on the selected radar band, response code, antenna position, mounting structure and available power.
Dexonmarine can configure the DX-RACON Series around the project’s radar environment, identification code and structural requirements, then support interface checks and pre-delivery configuration as part of the complete AtoN system.
The single-band version operates on X-band. The dual-band version supports both X-band and S-band for projects that need compatibility with a wider range of marine radar systems.
The two models use the same RACON core. DX-RACON-01 has an integrated FRP housing, while DX-RACON-02 uses an engineering-plastic radome and a 316 stainless-steel base.
