1. Basic Composition

  • Turbine: Utilizes water flow energy to drive rotation. Common types include:

    • Impulse Turbines (e.g., Pelton, Turgo): Designed for high water heads (>300 meters) with low flow rates, often used in mountainous areas with significant elevation drops.
  • Generator: Typically a synchronous generator connected 同轴 to the turbine shaft, converting mechanical rotational energy into electrical energy.

2. Working Principle

Water flows through the turbine’s nozzle, guide vanes, or volute, driving the blades/runner to rotate. This motion drives the generator’s rotor to cut magnetic field lines, producing alternating current (AC). The core energy conversion process is:
Water Energy (kinetic/potential) → Mechanical Energy (rotor rotation) → Electrical Energy (generator output).
