Product Overview

The Yaskawa CIMR-AU4A0031FAA is a 380-480 VAC three-phase A1000 high-performance vector variable frequency drive. It delivers 20 HP at 31 A in Normal Duty operation and 15 HP at 24 A in Heavy Duty operation. The model is designed for industrial applications requiring more advanced motor-control performance than a conventional V/f drive.

Open-loop current-vector control supports strong torque performance without encoder feedback, while closed-loop vector operation can use an appropriate encoder feedback option for higher speed accuracy and dynamic response. The A1000 also supports induction motors and compatible surface or interior permanent-magnet motors within the applicable 400 V class ratings.

Compatible System and Applications

The CIMR-AU4A0031FAA is appropriate for industrial conveyors, extruders, mixers, winders, process lines, machine tools, pumps and fans. Heavy Duty should be evaluated for constant-torque machinery, shock loads and frequent acceleration. Normal Duty is generally more appropriate for variable-torque loads with lower overload requirements.

When encoder feedback is required, verify the encoder electrical interface, resolution, supply voltage, channel format and installed feedback card. Supported feedback technologies depend on the selected option. Closed-loop performance cannot be assumed from the base drive alone without the necessary feedback hardware and commissioning.

The drive includes built-in serial communication and can use optional network cards for integration with a PLC or supervisory control system. Network configuration should be verified from the existing option-card model and controller project.

Maintenance and Replacement Notes

Before replacement, back up the existing parameter set and record the complete drive nameplate. Check the software revision, motor-control method, feedback card, encoder type, communication option, braking resistor and terminal assignments. Do not copy parameters blindly between different A1000 capacities because motor-current and drive-rating parameters may require adjustment.

If the drive is being migrated to GA800, review the official transition guide and use DriveWizard Industrial parameter conversion where appropriate. Confirm all machine-specific logic, safety-disable wiring, feedback settings, communication mapping and braking components before returning the equipment to production.
