The TM221CE16R is suitable for small packaging machines, pumps, fans, conveyors, material-handling equipment, building-control panels and general OEM machinery.

The relay-output configuration is useful when the controlled loads operate at different compatible voltage levels or when galvanic separation through relay contacts is preferred. Output contact ratings, load current, switching frequency and required suppression components must be checked for each application.

The Ethernet connection can be used for compatible PLC, HMI or supervisory communication. Network addressing, Modbus TCP settings, device services and controller firmware must be verified against the installed machine project.

Maintenance and Replacement Notes

Verify the complete TM221CE16R reference before replacement. TM221C16R is a non-Ethernet compact version, while TM221ME16R uses the Book-format mechanical structure and a different power-supply arrangement.

Do not replace a relay-output controller with TM221CE16T or TM221CE16U without reviewing the complete output wiring. The T and U references are transistor-output versions and have different electrical characteristics.

Before removing the installed controller, back up the EcoStruxure Machine Expert – Basic project, firmware information, Ethernet settings, serial parameters, I/O assignments and expansion-module configuration.
