Application:
The valve stem seal 2418M522 is purpose-built for the latest 1104C-44T, 1104C-E44TA, 1104D-E44T, 1104D-E44TA, 1106C-E66TA and 1106D-E66TA families of Perkins 4- and 6-cylinder diesels (4.4 L and 6.6 L) that power everything from 70 kW agricultural tractors and 60 Hz prime-duty generator sets to material handlers and compact wheel loaders. Thanks to its positive-type wiping lip it maintains the exact oil film the intake and exhaust valve stems need at speeds up to 3 000 min⁻¹, cutting lube-oil consumption to <0.15 % of fuel burn and keeping exhaust opacity within EU Stage IIIA / EPA Tier 4-final limits even after 12 000 h of dusty field service.

Overall height 18.0 mm, body diameter 11.0 mm, stem bore 8.0 mm, seal lip in nitrile (NBR) rubber 70 Shore A, spring-loaded PTFE anti-stick coating 15 µm thick, operating temperature –40 °C to +150 °C, burst pressure 0.6 MPa, maximum valve lift 14 mm without unseating.
Material & performance features:
The structural cup is drawn from 0.8 mm low-carbon steel, zinc-nickel plated 8 µm for 720 h salt-spray protection; the sealing lip uses a high-acrylonitrile NBR compound that resists swelling in 15 ppm sulphur diesel and retains elasticity after 1 000 h at 150 °C in ASTM #3 oil. A corrosion-resistant stainless-steel garter spring exerts 18 ± 1 N radial load, giving uniform contact pressure around the 8 mm stem and reducing wear groove depth to <0.02 mm after 6 000 h.
