Three properties combine in nickel that no single alternative metal offers: (1) an FCC crystal structure that remains ductile from cryogenic to over 1000°C — no brittle transition; (2) ferromagnetic response that is stable and repeatable across thermal cycles — critical for sensors and actuators; (3) intrinsic corrosion resistance that doesn't depend on a coating or plating layer that can crack, peel, or wear through. Copper corrodes. Steel rusts. Nickel stays nickel.
If your wire operates above 315°C, select Ni201. Its carbon content is capped at ≤ 0.02% — low enough to prevent chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, which is the primary failure mechanism for standard Ni200 in sustained elevated-temperature service. Below 315°C, Ni200 offers the same corrosion resistance at a lower cost. For vacuum or inert-atmosphere applications where any trace outgassing is unacceptable, N4 (Ni+Co ≥ 99.9%) is the correct choice.
Yes. Our multi-pass drawing process produces 0.025 mm wire in continuous, weld-free strands. A standard DIN 100 spool holds over 15,000 meters of unbroken wire. For longer requirements, DIN 200 and DIN 300 spool formats are available. Specify your minimum continuous length at inquiry — we will confirm feasibility against your requested spool format.
If you are winding a solenoid, a reluctance sensor, or a magnetic actuator, the wire's ferromagnetic response is not a secondary property — it is the primary functional requirement. Trace iron contamination from a mixed-alloy factory can shift coercivity and saturation unpredictably. DLX tests magnetic response on sample spools from every production batch using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Because we run a nickel-only facility, there is no iron cross-contamination to degrade that response over time.
