I. Working Principle
The single-cone vacuum dryer is a fully enclosed vertical unit that integrates mixing and drying functions. Its core operation relies on a combined mechanism of reduced-pressure evaporation and heat conduction: wet material is fed into the top of the conical chamber, where hot water, steam, or thermal oil—introduced through the jacket and internal agitator (typically a ribbon or helical blade)—indirectly heats the material. Simultaneously, under the action of a vacuum pump, the system maintains a high vacuum, significantly lowering the boiling point of solvents or moisture in the material, enabling rapid evaporation at relatively low temperatures. A specially designed ribbon agitator driven by a top-mounted motor continuously rotates, lifting the material up along the cone wall. Upon reaching the highest point, the material falls back toward the center by gravity, creating comprehensive three-dimensional convective and diffusive motion that ensures thorough and uniform contact between the material and the heated surfaces. The evaporated moisture is removed via the vacuum system; if solvent recovery is required, a condenser can be installed to capture it. This process ultimately achieves efficient, low-temperature drying of the material.

The unique cone design combined with ribbon agitation ensures complete gravity-driven discharge with no residue, preventing cross-contamination between batches.
Moreover, the equipment operates in a fully enclosed environment, effectively isolating it from air and combined with nitrogen protection, making it particularly suitable for handling flammable, explosive, easily oxidized, or toxic materials. The absence of internal transmission mechanisms within the cylinder eliminates the risk of material contamination caused by lubricant leakage at the source, ensuring high cleanliness and ease of cleaning, with inner walls capable of being polished to mirror finish. The low-shear ribbon impeller minimizes crystal damage during mixing, making it especially ideal for high-value products requiring strict control over crystal morphology. Its multifunctional capability—integrating mixing, drying, and even reaction—helps users simplify process flows while reducing equipment investment and factory space requirements.
III. Application Scope
The single-cone ribbon vacuum dryer is primarily used in industries such as chemical processing, food, and fine chemicals. It is especially suitable for drying heat-sensitive, easily oxidized, high-viscosity, or organic solvent-containing pastes, powders, and granules—such as active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, antibiotics, pigments, dyes, and food additives.
