Clear Cyan Sublimation Ink | Achieve Bright Transparent Color Effects
Features

Cyan ink is often overlooked, but professionals know it is the true anchor of the entire CMYK color system. The core purpose of our cyan ink is to solve the root problem behind dull, lifeless blues and greens—because in many cases, the issue lies in a cyan base that is not pure enough.

Its hue has been precisely calibrated to ensure that the sky blues and lake blues mixed from it appear deep, clean, and transparent, while the greens it helps create remain vivid and well layered. This makes it a fundamental color for accurately reproducing natural landscapes and achieving a fresh, crisp visual style. At the same time, its excellent stability guarantees consistent color output during long, continuous print runs, making it a reliable choice for those who demand professional-grade color accuracy and efficient, stable production.

Print Media

The fabric compatibility rules for this cyan sublimation ink are the same as for all sublimation inks—the key factor is the fiber composition of the material.

To achieve the best cyan performance, please follow these guidelines:

Preferred fabrics: High-polyester (polyester fiber) materials

On light-colored fabrics with a high polyester content (recommended above 80%), cyan delivers the cleanest, most transparent results. It is the foundation for producing vibrant blues (such as sky blue and lake blue) and fresh greens (such as emerald and mint green). This is especially important when printing designs featuring skies, water, or natural themes.

Use on dark-colored fabrics

When cyan is printed directly onto black or dark polyester fabrics, the color will appear darker, shifting toward deep blue or blue-green tones. If bright, vivid cyan is required on dark backgrounds, a white ink underbase process is essential.

Fabrics to strictly avoid

All natural fiber fabrics—such as 100% cotton, linen, wool, and silk—are not suitable. Sublimation ink can only bond with synthetic fibers like polyester and cannot properly fix onto natural fibers.

FAQS

Q: Cyan ink just looks like light blue. What irreplaceable role does it actually play in four-color printing?

A:You’re partly right—but it’s far more than “just light blue.” In professional printing, cyan is a foundational color in the CMYK system. Its role is irreplaceable in two key ways: first, it neutralizes excess red, keeping colors clean and preventing unwanted warm casts; second, it is the source of all blues and greens. In other words, the brilliance of blue skies and the freshness of green foliage depend largely on the purity of the cyan ink. If cyan is off-hue or unstable, cool tones across the entire image will appear grayish or muddy. This is exactly why our ink focuses on strengthening cyan’s stability and purity as the true “cornerstone” of the color palette.

Q: My printed blues often don’t look very clear or luminous—they feel dull. Is this related to cyan ink?

A:Very much so. In most cases, the issue can be traced back to cyan. Blue is created by mixing cyan and magenta. If the cyan itself is dark or contains impurities, it’s like adding gray into a clean blue, resulting in a color that lacks saturation and transparency. This is especially noticeable when trying to reproduce clear sky blue or lake blue tones. A bright, pure cyan is essential, and our formulation is specifically optimized at the source to ensure vivid, transparent blue results.

Q: Cyan ink is known to settle easily and cause uneven printing. How do you address this common issue?

A:You’ve identified a classic industry challenge. Due to dye characteristics, some cyan inks do settle quickly, leading to concentration differences between nozzles and visible banding. We address this through advanced dispersion technology and precise particle size control. In simple terms, the dye particles remain evenly and stably suspended in the ink, ensuring consistent color output from the first print to the last. This greatly reduces quality fluctuations caused by sedimentation and lowers maintenance frequency.

Q: Are there any special process considerations when printing cyan designs on dark fabrics?

A:Yes—if your goal is a bright, vivid cyan, the process changes significantly. When cyan is transferred directly onto dark polyester fabrics, it blends with the background and turns into a very dark blue-green tone. The standard solution is a white ink underbase: first print a white layer on the dark fabric to create a bright “canvas,” then apply the cyan on top. This allows the color to stand out as intended. If white ink equipment is not available, you can still use dark-fabric transfer methods, but the result will be a darker, more vintage-style color effect.

Q: After opening a bottle of cyan ink, how can I tell if it’s still in optimal condition?

A:There’s a simple self-check. When printing a test chart, observe the uniformity of the cyan color blocks and the purity of the blue created when cyan overprints with magenta. If you see banding, uneven density within the cyan areas, or muddy blues, the ink’s uniformity may have declined. For best results, we recommend using opened ink within 6–8 weeks and storing it tightly sealed in a cool, dark place. Regularly cleaning the ink supply system filters is also a good practice to maintain peak performance.
