Designed for structural sound isolation, our high-density non woven damping felt is a heavyweight polyester mat (up to 2000 g/m²) that adds mass and decouples layers in floors, walls, and ceilings. Unlike standard acoustic felt, this grade is optimized for Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Impact Insulation Class (IIC) improvement. It can be easily cut with a utility knife to fit any floor plan, stud bay, or joist cavity. The material is compressible yet resilient, providing long-term stability under laminate, engineered wood, or beneath plasterboard. It contains no bitumen, rubber crumb, or harmful volatiles, making it a clean, odourless choice for interior builds. With a high NRC and excellent vibration damping, this felt mat is the hidden workhorse of effective soundproofing assemblies.
Footfall noise and airborne sound transfer through floors and walls are major complaints in multi-unit buildings. Our damping felt solves this by providing a limp-mass, high-density layer that can be cut to fit precisely, significantly reducing impact and airborne sound transmission when used as part of a properly constructed floor or wall buildup.
Underlay for laminate, vinyl plank, and engineered wood flooring in apartments; inside timber stud wall cavities; as a decoupling layer in home theater risers; around plumbing pipes and ductwork; and beneath HVAC units to reduce vibration transmission.
The high mass and internal fiber friction convert vibrational energy into negligible heat, damping resonance. When placed between two rigid layers, it breaks the mechanical connection, preventing direct vibration transfer. Its porous structure also provides supplementary airborne sound absorption, while its cuttability ensures a tight fit around services, preventing short-circuit paths for noise.
