The ASTM E162 Radiant Panel Flame Spread Tester is a precision testing device specifically designed to assess the flammability of material surfaces. It primarily follows ASTM E162, "Standard Test Method for Flammability of Surfaces of Materials Using Radiant Heat Sources," and ASTM D3675, "Standard Test Method for Flammability of Surfaces of Flexible Porous Materials Using Radiant Heat Sources." This instrument simulates a radiant heat source environment to accurately measure the flame spread rate and heat release characteristics of materials under heated conditions, calculating the flame spread index (Is). It is widely used for testing the flame retardant properties of materials in railway vehicles, buses, manufactured buildings, recreational vehicles, as well as flexible foam plastics, textile coverings, and plastic composite panels. It is an essential testing tool for ensuring the fire safety of materials in the transportation, construction, and manufacturing sectors.
