AS 1530.3: Methods for fire tests on building materials, components and structures - Part 3: Simultaneous determination of ignitability, flame propagation, heat release and smoke release
Application Scope
This tester assesses fire hazard characteristics including flammability, flame propagation, heat release, and smoke release for various building products exposed to radiant heat. Suitable for solid, coated, or layered materials (excluding those that excessively melt or shrink away from flames).

  • Wall and Ceiling Linings: Drywall, fiber cement boards, acoustic panels, decorative wall coverings
  • Flooring Materials: Carpet tiles, vinyl flooring, laminate flooring, wood flooring
  • Insulation Products: Fiberglass, rock wool, foam insulation boards
  • Coatings and Finishes: Paints, varnishes, fire-retardant coatings, sealants
  • Textiles and Fabrics: Curtain fabrics, upholstery fabrics, wall hangings
  • Composite Materials: Sandwich panels, laminated plywood, MDF, particleboard
  • Roofing and Exterior Products: Roofing membranes, metal roofing panels
  • Other Components: Door finishes, window frame coatings, electrical conduit coverings
Testing Requirements: 100mm x 150mm samples (typically 6 samples) mounted vertically. Materials are classified according to flammability (0-20) and flame spread (0-10) indices to comply with building codes.
