Argonite Fire Suppression System (IG55) is an inert gas fire suppression solution designed for extinguishing fires in enclosed rooms. The system works by diluting the oxygen concentration in the air to a level that cannot support combustion.

The oxygen content in normal air is approximately 21%. To create a fire-extinguishing atmosphere, the oxygen level must be reduced to below 15%. When 50% inert gas is introduced into an enclosure, the oxygen level typically drops to around 12.5%.

Inert gases are especially suited for extinguishing fires involving flammable liquids and gases (Class B fires). They are also capable of suppressing surface fires in Class A materials such as paper and textiles, though deep-seated fires in Class A materials remain a challenge. Fires involving products that release oxygen cannot be extinguished by inert gases, and reactive materials such as magnesium, titanium, or metal hydrides are also unsuitable for inert gas suppression.

IG55 is a gas mixture consisting of 50% Argon and 50% Nitrogen. The product is sold under various trade names, including Argonite and Nitrogon. IG55 is listed in all international and national standards for inert gases, including NFPA and ISO.

The IG55 system is suitable for a wide range of critical environments, including:

8. It reduces the opening area of the gas pressure relief port, directly lowering the input cost of the safety pressure relief device and simplifying the installation and arrangement of safety buckles.
