HDPE is produced by copolymerizing ethylene with a small amount of alpha olefin monomer. It is referred to as low-pressure polyethylene due to the lower pressure conditions under which it is synthesized. HDPE appears as non-toxic, odorless, and tasteless white particles with a melting point around 130 ℃ and a relative density ranging from 0.941 to 0.960. It exhibits excellent heat and cold resistance, maintaining optimal performance within the temperature range of -40 ℃ to 100 ℃.
HDPE showcases remarkable chemical stability and remains insoluble in any organic solvents at room temperature. It demonstrates resistance to acid, alkali, and various salt corrosion; however, it can dissolve in hydrocarbon solvents above 60 ℃.
