This P80 contact ignition plasma electrode nozzle is a wear-resistant spare part built for air plasma cutting torches. It features a contact arc starting design, engineered for easy operation on-site cutting work. Unlike high-frequency arc starting consumables, this assembly can touch the workpiece surface to initiate plasma arc, which brings great convenience for rough cutting and scrap processing scenarios.
The inner discharge core of the electrode is made of high-purity hafnium wire. Hafnium material delivers stable plasma discharge under high-temperature working conditions, maintains consistent arc shape, and extends the service cycle of the consumable. The nozzle shell and electrode body are forged from chromium zirconium copper blanks. The surface is finely polished into a bright mirror finish, which improves slag shedding performance, reduces adhesion of molten metal splatters, and retains excellent electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity.
This set is widely applied to cut carbon steel, stainless steel, iron plate, aluminum and other conductive metal materials. It works well for handheld manual cutting, and also fits simple CNC plasma cutting tasks. It is commonly stocked by metal workshops, scrap recycling yards, maintenance factories and metal processing contractors.
Operation Guide
Before installation, double-check your plasma cutter and torch are P80 compatible. Adjust the working air pressure within 0.40–0.55 MPa.
Assemble the electrode and nozzle correctly, screw the parts tightly to guarantee reliable electrical connection. Loose assembly will cause arc instability and rapid burnout.
For contact ignition: Lightly touch the nozzle end to the metal workpiece to trigger the plasma arc. Avoid dragging or grinding the nozzle hard against the workpiece surface.
Ensure the compressed air supply is clean and dry. Oil vapour and water inside air lines will damage the hafnium core and shorten service life.
Choose the proper nozzle bore size according to your plate thickness and cutting current setting.
Once you notice deformed cutting edges, unstable arc or obvious wear of the hafnium core, replace the electrode and nozzle promptly.
Important Reminders
Prolonged no-load arc striking without cutting will accelerate consumption of the hafnium core and should be avoided.
Periodically clear slag residue inside the nozzle orifice, blockage will disrupt air flow and ruin cutting quality.
Keep the consumables stored in dry conditions, away from humid environments that cause copper oxidation.
These are expendable wearing parts, regular replacement is required during continuous cutting work.
