Frequently Asked Questions from Customers
Question 1: Vacuum degree fails to reach the limit value
Customer: We are carrying out vacuum pumping for SF6 GIS equipment on site. After the equipment runs continuously for a long time, the vacuum gauge reading remains stagnant and cannot drop to the required ultimate vacuum. What are the possible causes?
Manufacturer: This issue is usually caused by circuit leakage or degraded vacuum pump performance. We recommend troubleshooting in sequence: first, inspect all quick connectors, flange interfaces and valve seals of the entire gas circuit, and use soapy water to check for leakage points, especially the connection part between the device and the tested equipment. Second, confirm that all valves on the gas path are fully opened, and check whether the pipeline filter element is blocked by impurities. Third, check whether the vacuum pump oil is insufficient or deteriorated; insufficient or emulsified pump oil will directly reduce the pumping capacity and ultimate vacuum. If all the above checks are normal, isolate the tested equipment and perform a separate vacuum test on the device itself to determine whether the leakage comes from the tested object. Please contact us if the problem persists, and do not disassemble the vacuum pump assembly without permission.
Question 2: Slow gas filling and failure to reach the set pressure
Customer: The vacuum pumping function works normally, but during SF6 gas filling, the pressure rises extremely slowly, and it cannot reach the preset filling pressure even after prolonged operation. How to fix this issue?
Manufacturer: This problem is generally caused by insufficient gas source pressure, blocked gas circuit or improper parameter setting. The following measures can be taken: First, check the remaining pressure of the SF6 gas cylinder. When the gas source pressure is close to or lower than the target filling pressure, continuous boosting cannot be achieved; replace a fully pressurized gas cylinder if necessary. Second, check whether the air inlet filter element and the internal pipeline of the device are blocked, and clean or replace the filter element regularly. Third, properly adjust the output pressure of the pressure reducing valve to avoid excessively low setting of the outlet pressure. In addition, low ambient temperature will cause SF6 gas liquefaction and slow down the filling speed; it is recommended to warm the gas cylinder properly or perform the operation at suitable temperature. If the tested equipment itself has obvious leakage, it will also show as unable to maintain pressure; it is recommended to conduct a tightness test after filling.
Question 3: Pressure drop during gas holding test
Customer: After completing SF6 gas filling and starting the holding test, the pressure drops obviously in a short time. We suspect there is a gas leakage. How should we locate the leakage point?
Manufacturer: It is recommended to carry out step-by-step investigation from external circuit to the device itself. First, check all quick connectors, hose interfaces and valve connections between the device and the tested equipment, and apply soapy water or SF6 leak detector to key sealing positions for leak detection, and retighten or replace the sealing ring if leakage is found. Second, isolate the tested equipment and conduct an independent pressure holding test on the device itself to determine whether the leakage comes from the tested object or the internal gas circuit of the device. Third, check whether all valves are fully closed after the test; incomplete closing of the valve will also cause slow pressure drop. If internal leakage of the device is confirmed, please contact our after-sales personnel for maintenance, and do not disassemble the sealing components without permission.
Question 4: Device fails to power on / no display on control panel
Customer: The control panel has no response after connecting to the on-site power supply, and the built-in battery cannot start the device either. What may cause this problem?
Manufacturer: Please troubleshoot according to the following steps: First, confirm that the input power supply voltage matches the device rating (110V/220V), and check whether the power socket and power cord are in normal conduction with a multimeter. Second, check whether the equipment power fuse is blown; if it is blown, replace it with a fuse of the same specification. Third, if using the built-in battery, confirm that the battery main switch is turned on, and judge whether the battery is in over-discharge protection state; if the device has not been charged for a long time, please connect it to AC power for more than 2 hours before trying to start it. If the fault still exists after the above inspection, it may be a failure of the control module; please contact us for technical support and do not open the electric control box privately.
Question 5: Slow SF6 gas recovery / incomplete recovery
Customer: When recovering SF6 gas from the tested equipment, the recovery speed is very slow, and there is always residual gas that cannot be pumped out completely. How to solve this problem?
Manufacturer: This situation is mostly related to pipeline configuration, gas source state or parameter setting. You can optimize it through the following measures: First, shorten the length of the recovery connecting pipeline as much as possible and reduce intermediate joints; excessively long pipelines will increase flow resistance and reduce recovery efficiency. Second, when the pressure of the tested equipment drops to a low level, start the vacuum pumping function for auxiliary recovery, which can greatly reduce the residual gas. Third, check whether the internal filter element of the recovery system is blocked; long-term use without replacement will reduce the gas flow rate. In addition, too low ambient temperature will cause SF6 gas liquefaction and slow down the recovery speed; it is recommended to carry out recovery operation when the ambient temperature is above 0℃.
