Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide (RBSC), also known as Silicon Infiltrated Silicon Carbide (SiSiC), is a dense ceramic material featuring excellent gas tightness, high mechanical strength, and outstanding thermal conductivity.
RBSC thermocouple protection tubes are specifically designed for temperature measurement applications where reliable sealing performance is required, including atmosphere furnaces, heat treatment systems, and flue gas monitoring equipment.
Compared with porous silicon carbide materials, RBSC provides a nearly non-porous structure, making it highly suitable for applications requiring protection against gas penetration and chemical atmosphere exposure.
With a continuous service temperature of up to 1350°C, RBSC offers an excellent balance between performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness for medium-temperature industrial furnace applications.
RBSC thermocouple protection tubes are manufactured through a reaction bonding process.
High-purity silicon carbide powder is mixed with carbon materials, formed into the required tube shape, and then subjected to controlled drying and debinding.
During high-temperature silicon infiltration, molten silicon penetrates into the porous structure and reacts with carbon to form secondary silicon carbide. The remaining silicon fills the residual pores, creating a fully dense composite structure.
