What Is an Etched Bipolar Plate?

An etched bipolar plate is a precision metal flow field plate manufactured by photo chemical etching. It is used to distribute reactant gases, water and other fluids through precisely designed flow channels in fuel cells and electrolyzers.

What is Chemical Etching?

Chemical etching (also known as photochemical machining) is a subtractive manufacturing process that uses chemical solutions to dissolve metal precisely. Unlike traditional stamping or machining, etching creates burr-free, stress-free plates without mechanical force.
