The XLCS Type Vortex Grit Remover is used in grit chambers and aerated grit chambers of sewage treatment plants. It lifts and conveys the mixture of sewage and heavy particles such as sand and sludge settled at the bottom of the tank to the pipeline connected to the sand separator.
The XLCS Type Vortex Grit Remover consists of an impeller, transmission shaft, motor, reducer and sand suction system.
Inlet water enters the tank tangentially to form a vortex. The vortex mixer controls the flow velocity and pattern. Water carries sand adhering to organic matter, which are separated by the stirring shear force of paddles. The sand sinks to the central sand hopper by its own gravity and vortex effect, while the separated organic matter overflows upward.
The sand accumulated in the hopper is lifted by an air lift pump or sand pump, then enters the external sand-water separator with a small amount of sewage for sand separation and discharge; the sewage returns to the grille well.
In addition, the impeller rotation reduces the vortex tank's sensitivity to flow pattern changes caused by inlet water volume fluctuations, ensuring stable operation of the grit chamber and low organic content of the discharged sand.
