The MMA2P00-AS and MMA2P00-ASHT are pluggable SFP28 optical transceivers from Mellanox® designed for high-speed 25GbE connectivity. They leverage advanced integrated circuit technology to deliver exceptional signal integrity at low power consumption. Operating at a nominal wavelength of 850nm over dual multimode fibers, these modules are fully compliant with SFF-8402 and IEEE 802.3bm specifications. The optical interface uses standard LC duplex connectors, supporting data rates up to 25.78125 GBd. With selectable retiming on both transmitter and receiver, they offer flexibility for 25G retimed or 10G non‑retimed operation. Rigorous production testing ensures reliable out‑of‑box performance.
Mellanox’s integrated circuit technology enables low power and high performance inside the SFP28 package. The module includes a VCSEL array (850nm) and a PIN receiver paired with a DSP-based retiming function. The retiming can be selectively enabled for 25G operation or bypassed for 10G backward compatibility. Digital Diagnostics (DDM) per SFF-8472 provides real‑time monitoring of temperature, voltage, laser bias, and optical power. The programmable Tx equalizer compensates for host board losses, while the Rx emphasis adjusts to varying link conditions, ensuring robust eye openings even over long multimode fibers.
